Brian Hurst is a senior advisor to X Machina Capital Strategies. He has more than 25 years of experience managing money for institutional investors in both traditional and alternative investment strategies. Throughout his career, he has been a pioneer in systematic and quantitative investing. Brian has particular expertise in managed futures, risk parity, and trading. In 2013, he was named “Alternatives Fund Manager of the Year” by Morningstar for his work on managed futures.
Previously, Brian was a member of the initial team that founded AQR Capital Management. In this capacity, he developed numerous large-scale and sophisticated investment funds and strategies across asset classes. He also was a significant contributor to AQR’s success in raising capital, reaching more than $240 billion in assets under management (AUM).
Earlier in his career, Brian was an original member of the quantitative research group in the Asset Management Division of Goldman, Sachs & Co. He began his career as a sell-side investment banking analyst at Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette, which was acquired by Credit Suisse in 2000.
Brian earned his BS in economics from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
